I am Eric Erway, Group Product Manager for Adobe Commerce merchant and shopper experiences at Adobe based in Austin, Texas. I am originally from Virginia since moving to Texas 15 years ago and enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and boating on Lake Travis. I also enjoy running.
My first experience with computers was in the 1980s on an Atari 400 playing games and learning BASIC. I was a self-employed pixel artist in the 1990s, studied Computer Science at Virginia Tech, and have been doing what I love for a long time.
The Journey Began
I started my professional career as a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers and a few startups. Eventually, I landed at AOL during its 30 million-member peak and worked on mail and instant message products with some fantastic people who I stay in touch with to this day. After AOL, I worked at Dell for eight years supporting Dell.com and several acquisitions from both a product and user experience standpoint.
Magento Become Part of my Life
In 2015, I joined Magento (then part of eBay, now Adobe) shortly before Magento 2 and could not have been more inspired. Behind the scenes, we’re shaping the future of commerce with Adobe and this ecosystem — and I could not be more product of our teams. Now more than ever, it’s an exciting time to be part of the community.
My Valuable Advice
Get involved with the Magento community and Magento Association. You’ll meet thousands of others around the world who want to help you get started. There are many ways to connect including events and meetups and you can choose your level of involvement.
Magento & Beyond
After more than 10 years, there are a lot of opportunities with Magento as part of Adobe. My team continues to grow — individually and professionally as part of Adobe as we bring together the best of both worlds in the next few years. You’ll see more of this in the product roadmap over time between Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce.
My Love for the Magento Community
Our community is what drives me every day at Adobe. Since I joined in 2015, I have regularly attended Magento and Adobe events and meetups all over the world. These are a great way to get and stay connected to our community and have been an essential part of our history.
How I Keep Myself Updated
Magento Association, the forums and other resources on Adobe are a great way to stay connected. Our events are also a great way to stay updated with the latest in the industry with experts who are shaping the future with our community.
